Welcome

Welcome to the Curiously Clever Clogs Knit-a-long! The pattern can be found at the Stitch Diva shop. You will need to purchase the pattern in order to participate so go there and get it. I'm also kicking around the idea of some kind of swap either for materials to create the clogs or for pre-felted clogs so that the recipient can achieve a custom fit. Please share your ideas so we can have fun with this together.
Additional needs are:
*at least one KAL partner to help me run the blog including adding links and stuff
*buttons!
*I need a header and instructions to place it on top of his page

If you'd like to join please leave a comment and I'll get you added. Please please please include your email address in your comment. I must have it in order to send you the blog invite. Or you can email me at quiltsATcyberisDOTnet.

Here's to colorful CLOGS!

Anyone here?

I have just bought my copy of the pattern and was wondering if I was the only one still coming around? I sure hope not, cause i am sure I will need some help with this pattern.

Taking a Hiatus

Hello All, I have been busy as heck as we all are and have not had much time to work on these clogs, they are still WIPs and I will get to them but for now I am taking a hiatus. So if my name needs to be removed, i understand...if not, then I will post when I am back on a more even keel of time or hopefully with finished clogs.

Going for Help!

I've noticed the activity level on this KAL is ... how shall one say .. lacking? Is it because, like me, you've given up on the pattern? I've decided that I'm not going to waste $7 on this pattern and that I WILL knit this or get a refund from Stitch Diva Studios.

In able to justify asking for a refund though, I'm going to exhaust all methods of figuring this out. Next month I'm taking the blasted thing to the Stitch Diva Studios booth at Stitches West 2007. If the designer isn't there, and nobody in their booth can help me, then I'll go see the Stitches West KnitDoctor. One way or another, I will either have a finished object or have my $7 back!

washing?

I am sure that this will sound like a dumb question- but as I have never felted anything before, or for that matter owned anything that was felted I really needed to ask- when something is felted how do you clean it? you can't just through it into the washer! I wanted to make these clogs as a gift, and I always include care instructions with my knitted gifts. Thanks!

2 frustrating

I'm seriously thinking of giving up on this pattern.
I really don't agree that it's well written.
In fact I think it's the opposite and needs a good technical writer plus diagrams to explain the directions.
My attachment around the toe is just the fugliest mess and the whole "attach as you go" idea seems more complicated than its worth.
Think I'd rather just knit separate pieces then sew together & felt... much easier, neater and quicker!

Attachment

... of the outer sole to the upper.

That's where the trouble started for me.

My specs:
Yarn
: Jo Sharp DK double-stranded.

Insole: easy

Upper: ditto, now that I know how to "wrap n turn" thanks to the
knitty tutorial.

But it's Row 30 that got me stumped: "BO 18 outer sole sts while working ktch into first 19 purl bumps of main body".

After 2 attempts, I ended up just ripping all of my C colour out and starting again.

Now I'm back up to Row 21 of the outer sole.

More positively, I have done a button if anyone's interested.

It's pretty rough n ready & I realised after I uploaded it to flikr that it's too low-res.
(Once it's button-size it's very hard to read the text). If there's any takers, I'll post again with the url for a hi-res version.

Starting Over

Here WAS my progress on the clogs:

And here is my progress now:

I forgot to knit the wraps on the short rows so I ripped it all apart & I'm now starting over. I'm not loving this pattern but it's probably because I'm trying to knit beyond my expertise. I think the worst part though was trying to find the correct sized beads that also matched color-wise. I almost opted out on the beads, but these are for my Step-Daughter & she loves anything with "bling".

Hopefully next week I'll have some progress photos.

darn spammers!

I've had to put our blog comments on word verification because we've gotten some spam in the comments. I hope this will completely fix this problem.

My first pair of clogs are finished!

Sorry I'm late to the party. I cranked on these over Thanksgiving. I have more details on my blog - IndigoMuse Knits - about tips and hints for working this pattern as I got stuck in a few places. The yarn used in the pair below is Patons Merino Denim Marl, Cascade 220 off white (the one that felts) and Galway Heathers in Dk Brown. Inspite of the fact that I used three very different yarns (quite a risk when felting), they felted very nicely together. I didn't use beads because I'm planning to needle felt designs on the slippers for my various relatives. I'll post more pictures of that process later. I've got several other pairs to finish in the next few weeks so I'd better get busy. Best wishes on your clogs!

Can't Wait

Hi All
Brand new to the group, but love felting and knitting. I have purchased the pattern and will hopefully have the yarn and beads within a week. Can't wait to make these outrageous clogs..

Sunday, November 26, 2006

Hello all..
I haven't worked on this in about a week, but here's the progress I've made thus far.

Sorry if the alignment is all wonky. I'm not used to Blogger.

The yarn is knitpicks wool of the andes in hyacinth, chambray, and amethyst heather.

making progress

Here's a photo of the progress on my first clog. This is a very interesting pattern and I'm still not sure if I'll be able to follow it but I'm trying to take it one step at a time and it seems to be easy to follow if I just go step by step and try not to overthink it. I really like the colors I picked. They will be colorful and warm once felted and fitted to my feet.
Anyone else have progress pics?

Pattern help

I haven't gotten far enough yet to be much help with this pattern. I'm at the third bead row and I'll post a pic soon. There are a couple other places where you might look for help with the pattern. Both Craftster and Knitter's Review have KAL threads going. There's not much interest yet but hopefully there will be soon. There are a few people who are saying they want to knit the pattern that just need to get started.
Be sure to post pictures of your yarns and beads once you get them so others can encourage you and feed off your ideas. Most of all, enjoy your clog knitting.

Hi Everyone!

Hopefully we'll get some more crafty peoples to join us! Thursday I'm buying yarn to make at least three pairs of these, so I should be able to get some pics on here soon. Anyone else knitting these for presents?
